RTO is the abbreviated form of Regional Transport Office. It is an Indian Government bureau which is responsible for the registration of vehicles and for issuing the Driver’s Licenses all over India. The post of RTO officer entrance examination is conducted under the public service commission. This exam is conducted by every state and the exams are conducted based on their own rules.

The post of RTO inspector is a dynamic post as compared to the job of normal police inspector. So, lots of people are interested in this job. To get the chance of employment in RTO office you will need eagle eye and you have to study hard. Completing all the stages of the exam is a great challenge but once you crack all the levels of it you will have your dream job. In this article we will know how to become an RTO officer.

Posts in RTO office

There are three types of posts in a RTO office. These posts are as follows:

  • Clerk post
  • Assistant Engineer post
  • Judicial post

Eligibility

For the three posts of RTO following are their respective eligibility criteria:

Eligibility for Clerk post:

  • You should be an Indian citizen.
  • The age limit for this post is within 21 to 35 years.
  • You should have completed graduation from a recognized institute.

Eligibility for Assistant Engineer post:

  • You should be an Indian citizen.
  • The age limit for this post is within 21 to 35 years.
  • You should have completed Bachelor Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university.

Eligibility for Judicial post:

  • You should be an Indian citizen.
  • The age limit for this post is within 21 to 35 years.
  • You should have completed a Bachelor's Degree in Law with at least 55 % marks from a recognized university.

Age Relaxation

  • If you belong to SC / ST then you will get 5 years of relaxation in age.
  • If you belong to the OBC then you will get 3 years of age relaxation.

Minimum Marks

  • If you belong to the General category then your minimum marks should be 60 %.
  • If you belong to Sc / ST / OBC category then your minimum marks should be 50%.

Exam Pattern

There are three stages of examination which are as follows:

  • Preliminary Examination
  • Main Examination
  • Personal Interview

Question Pattern

The questions in the written exam will be in two sections:

  • General paper
  • Optional paper

The questions asked in the general paper will be from General Knowledge.

The questions asked in the optional paper will be from computer science and mechanical engineering.
